Merklen Brothers was a NewYork city based manufacturer active from the mid-1870s to the late
1890s. They specialized in high end Victorian " spiral furniture". Basically chairs, tables, and rockers. They are renowned for their use of distinctive twisted, turned, and carved ,wood, often combined with ebonized finishes., brass claw feet, and Moorish style fretwork which surronds the top. The company pioneered a machine for their signature spirals, collaborating with Moses
Ransom on Moorish fretwork designs around 1885. No labels on these tables. If you manage to get a piece with a label that was when the company was going out of business. The top on this piece was refinished by master craftsman Vanoire. I recommend you check him out on Chairish.com.
