About the artist :
Peter Max (German/American, b. 1937) is a celebrated Pop artist best known for his bold use of color, cosmic imagery, and psychedelic style that defined much of American visual culture in the 1960s and 70s. Born in Berlin, Max immigrated with his family to Shanghai, then Israel, and eventually settled in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at the Art Students League of New York, where he developed his distinct fusion of expressive color and graphic design.
Max rose to fame with his vibrant posters and prints that captured the spirit of the counterculture era, and his imagery soon expanded into album covers, advertising, and major public commissions. His subjects often include cosmic landscapes, floating figures, patriotic icons, and symbols of peace and love. Over his career, Max’s work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in numerous museum and private collections.
