French First World War poster promoting the conservative use of sugar. This poster was one of a series published by the French Comite National de Prevoyance & d'Economies (National Committee of Planning and the Economy) that featured the artwork of local schoolchildren to try and encourage the French people to put in efforts towards protecting and managing the home front. This poster was drawn by Yvonne Colas, who was 15 years old attended Ecole de Filles at rue Sorbier 13 in Paris.
The poster depicts a bag of sugar being sliced into halves with a sword. The poster was a reminder of the restrictions imposed by rationing and the need to save food. The title translates as: "With rationing, we will have little, but we will all have some. Cut your sugar in half today so you will have some for tomorrow". (Australian War Memorial)
The poster present folding lines and a tear on the left side. Please see pictures. Rare and ready to be framed.
