These plates are contemporary and striking. There are 10 larger dinner plates, with 10 smaller entrée or dessert plates.
The porcelain plates were fabricated by Raynaud & Co in Limoges and are white as snow. Raynaud is one of the oldest manufacturers of porcelain in Limoges, France, the town renowned for fine porcelain. Dating from 1849, Raynaud has more than 300 current patterns.
The decoration was made by Louis Robert Mallet (1924-1997). On research his decorations were abstract and often rather quirky. He has decorated these with what appears to be a stylised abstract form or sea kelp. There is the gold leaf form with an outline in grey/green and another in black. They were produced in a small quantity and these are rare and unique patterns.
Limoges dinnerware is well-known for its innovative designs. The history of the Raynaud porcelain manufacturing can be traced back to the 19th century. Magnificently coloured and gilded decorations were created on delicate Limoges porcelain, which still today distinguish the company’s collection.
They are all in good condition without chips or cracks, the decoration is still in very good condition with only slight marks of previous use, if any.
