An exceptional series of contemporary graphic design, aimed at bringing the Summer Olympic Games to the Bay Area in 2012. The Bridge to the Future original poster series from 2002 consists of commemorative posters by twelve nationally renowned artists in support of San Francisco Bay Area's bid for the 2012 Olympic Games. Artists include Primo Angeli, Sharrie Brooks, David Lance Goines, Kit Hinrichs, Michael Mabry, Jennifer Morla, Jean Orlebeke, Ward Schumaker, Michael Schwab, Todd Simmons, Samuel Smidt, Michael Vanderbyl and Min Wang.

The results were sold to raise money for the campaign that ultimately failed. Yet the posters succeeded and became collectibles. This piece was created by renown artist Primo Angeli.

HISTORY

For over 40 years, Primo Angeli built an international reputation for his work in packaging, corporate identity and poster design from his San Francisco office. His clients include global brands like Coca-Cola and DHL, and international events like the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. None of this meant he was above designing for regional or local icons like the Boudin Bakery, Henry Weinhard’s or Mariani.

A number of Primo Angeli’s designs are in permanent collections and exhibitions worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Smithsonian Institution and Library of Congress in Washington D.C., Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design in New York, Achenbach Collection at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw Poster Collection, and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
