Bases are 6” on bottom, if you are measuring for a pedestal
Helena Wolfsohn was a prominent porcelain decorator in Dresden, Germany, active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her workshop was renowned for producing high-quality decorative porcelain that emulated the styles of earlier European porcelain makers, particularly the Rococo and Baroque periods.
Here we offer a pair of large porcelain baluster form ginger jars with domed lids by Helena Wolfsohn, featuring a pointed gilt finial. The piece showcases a yellow, white, and gilt decorated ground, with hand-painted scenes of courtly lovers in garden party scenes, some engaged in fun games and music, interspersed with floral sprays on a yellow ground in the Rococo style.
This exquisite porcelain jars and domed covers by Helena Wolfsohn is a perfect blend of decorative appeal, quality craftsmanship, and classical elegance. Its hand-painted Rococo scenes and intricate gilt detailing make it a standout piece that will enhance any interior decor.
Whether you're a collector of fine porcelain or looking for a sophisticated decorative piece, this pair is a timeless addition that brings both beauty and heritage to your home.
Standing at 16.5” in height
The bottom bears the Augustus Rex mark, which Wolfsohn used to suggest a connection to the prestigious Meissen porcelain, often she painted on Meissen Blanks.
This large pair would be incredible on a pair of pedestals, a mantle, chest, or sideboard.
A smaller pair were used in the popular television show The Crown in a room inside Buckingham Palace.
