Set 7 antique early 20th century French Limoges porcelain green & gold plates by Tressemann & Vogt, France and retailed by Higgins & Seiter, New York City. Foliate relief molded border is heavily gilt on a bright green ground. the gilding is raised in relief. Fully marked on the base. Measure 9 1/8" diameter. Suitable size for luncheon, salad, buffet, dessert, etc. Good condition - minor rubbing of enamel. Present well and fully functional.
Higgins & Seiter was a New York City fine china retailer that sold Limoges porcelain imported from France, primarily from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As a retailer, they did not manufacture the porcelain themselves, but rather marked items produced by established French companies like Tressemann & Vogt with their own mark. Higgins & Seiter operated for 50 years, starting just after the Civil War and closing in 1915. Their Limoges pieces, therefore, are considered antiques.
