This rare pair of Mid-Century Modern lounge chairs dates to the 1970s and blends the influences of two design masters—Milo Baughman’s relaxed, American modernism and Mies van der Rohe’s iconic Barcelona Chair. Manufactured by Bernhardt, these chairs exemplify the brand’s sophisticated approach to modern seating, merging comfort with an architectural frame.

Design & Construction:
The chairs feature recently polished flat bar steel chrome frames with a distinctive X-form base and integrated armrests, wrapped in matching upholstery for visual continuity. The bright, mirror-finish chrome contrasts beautifully with the original woven jacquard fabric, which is in excellent vintage condition.

Upholstery:
The original southwest-mod textile is a richly patterned jacquard in deep indigo blue, burgundy, gold, cream, and rust. The design combines abstract geometrics, circular medallions, and stylized floral motifs—adding a warm, graphic element to the sleek steel structure.
