This pair of vintage armchairs … Read more An Indian pair of richly-carved arm chairs, with zebra-printed seats, from the mid 20th century. This pair of vintage armchairs from India feature elaborate carvings of floral motifs, mythological figures, and geometric patterns throughout their wood-framed bodies. The backsides are further embellished with the addition of an arch and medallions, flanked within shoulders topped with floral bulb finials, and back-sides carved in a softer floral and foliate motif. The squared arms are carved throughout and terminate into three-dimensionally carved mythological creatures at the knuckles, with shapely and scaled bodies making up the design of the front arm posts. These wonderful creatures are also carved into the front legs of the chairs. The seats are upholstered in a zebra print vinyl fabric which is in fine shape. The seat depth is 19.5 inches and seat height is approximately 16 inches. Arm height is 26.25 inches from the floor.
