This impressive bowl from Japan, made in the 1960s, features a beautifully hand-painted peony motif in cobalt blue on white porcelain.
The peony, often called the “queen of flowers,” is a traditional symbol in Japan representing prosperity, elegance, and a happy life. The refined brushwork gives the petals depth and dimension, while the surrounding leaves form a rich, rhythmic pattern.
Dimensions: height 15 cm, diameter 37 cm.
The bowl has a wide, elegant rim and a spacious, gently flaring shape, making it both aesthetically striking and highly practical.
Traditionally, such porcelain bowls were used for serving food during larger gatherings, but today it also works perfectly as a fruit bowl, centerpiece, or decorative accent in both modern and classic interiors.
The condition is excellent – the porcelain is intact, free from cracks or chips, with a clear and fresh glaze. Although unsigned, the piece demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship and timeless beauty.
An elegant and versatile bowl that serves equally well as a functional vessel or as a sculptural object, and a fine example of Japanese porcelain from the Showa period.
