They have a gilded finish and are covered with a thin layer of gold (or a gold-colored material like gold leaf or gilt paint). This provides a rich, classic aesthetic, the pair has an applied over gesso, plaster-like material that provides a smooth base for ornamentation and gilding, enabling intricate detailing.
The frames feature ornate or elaborate decorative elements, typical of Victorian or earlier styles including a "Foliate Motif", common in periods like the Victorian era or Rococo revival styles, note the flowers and leaf patterns.
The frame's profile or molding has a complex shape, with multiple ridges, curves, or levels (e.g., a "swan profile" or "beaded profile" we believe it adds depth and dimension.
