The engraving is simply amazing as … Read more This spectacular Scandinavian art vase was designed by Asta Strömberg in the early 1960’s. The engraving is simply amazing as part of it seems to be made by literally breaking the glass (actually, experts have pointed out, this technique is a cutting technique with metal tools).
It is signed Strömberg B936 R968 at the bottom and according to what I’ve learned as a collector of Scandinavian art glass the last part tells us who the artist engraver is. In the case of this spectacular vase it’s Rune Strand.
I love Strömbergshyttan glass and over the years I’ve collected around 14 pieces from this factory. Recently I had the good fortune of finding another very similar piece at auction and decided to sell this piece from my collection. This vase is by far one of the best designs by Asta Strömberg and one of my all time favorites. It’s almost impossible to tell in photos that this vase has a very subtle blue hue to it.
