This moss agate snuff bottle is of great personal interest on account of it being a translucent chalcedony with green dendritic inclusions that resemble moss, or clumps of algae that floats in the shallow water of my lake. The carver did well to hollow to bottle to highlight the green patterns so they appeared to be an abstract painting. The bottle's shape is round, tapering towards a small raised oval foot. The shoulders are also rounded supporting a straight neck with a nice round opening. The stopper matches that bottle and the core is cork. The shape is pleasant and the polish is smooth and feels good to the touch. This bottle is made to be used because of its small size and it is very light in weight.
The bottle has some age. It was well made. Care was placed on the small round foot. This type of work is not found in contemporary bottles.
