The Zwiebelmuster or "Blue Onion" pattern was first produced in the 1730's by the Meissen Porcelain factory in Germany. Inspired by East Asian examples it features stylized pomegranates, peaches, and other fruit - often mistaken as "onions". Since 1844 the Kahla Germany porcelain factory has produced their own unique version of "Zeibelmuster". Even during the cold war when it was part of communist East Germany. To this day each piece is crafted of solid porcelain with cobalt blue under glaze decoration on a white ground.. This breakfast service for six dates from the late 20th century. Dishwasher safe. Consisting of 42 pieces total it includes:
