Victorian Opposing Bronze Serpent or Seahorse Urns on Marble Bases
Gorgeous Pair of bronze Urns from the late 19th or early 20th century.
They feature a seahorse type creature or possibly a serpent as the handle.
At the base of the handle are crossing stylized dolphins.
Made of heavy solid bronze. They are dark bronze with reddish rubbed areas.
Each urn is mounted on a brick red and veined marble base.
These are heavy and well made. They weight approx. 4 pounds each.
These Urns are not marked or stamped.
They are opposing and stand 11 3/4" tall x 3.5" wide x 4.5" deep.
Awesome garnitures on a mantle or dining table.

One marble has a chip on the top and lower edge stacked on top of eachother, see photo. On the opposite side of this urn is a lighter area but I think that is part of the marbles coloration, please see photos. The other Urn has some chipping of a vein, it looks white. It does not go through, just want to mention. Also the seahorse curl on the top of his head is slightly ascrew but that looks like it was made that way, not bent. Very charming pair. less
