A striking example of American silverplate craftsmanship, this ornate shell-form serving dish was created by the International Silver Company and bears the EGW&S mark (E.G. Webster & Sons), one of the company’s historic subsidiaries. With its scalloped clam-shell body, deep repoussé ribbing, and scrolling rococo-style crest, this piece embodies the decorative exuberance of the late 19th to early 20th century silver revival period.

The International Silver Company of Meriden, Connecticut, established in 1898, grew to become the largest producer of silver and silverplate in the world. This piece carries the EGW&S (E.G. Known for ornately decorated hollowware, EGW&S pieces are highly collectible today for their quality and design.
