Absolutely beautiful pre-1930s Japanese Kutani yellow Chrysanthemum bowl, showing the hand painted yellow motif on the inside and outside of … Read more Absolutely beautiful pre-1930s Japanese Kutani yellow Chrysanthemum bowl, showing the hand painted yellow motif on the inside and outside of the bowl, featuring gold dots (Kin Chibu technique). The seal on the bottom reads: "Kutani Ryusho/Ryujo" (both readings of second character possible) and the second set of characters is likely the potter's signature (Takayoshi?). This piece is possibly early Showa or late Taisho period (i.e. pre WWII).

This bowl motif has been copied later in the middle of the century by popular retailers, but this is the original Japanese art done by the famous potters and artisans in Japan. The most stunning part about this bowl is that the Chrysanthemum pattern is on the outside of the bowl as well. Later copies do not have this. The seal on the bottom is also hand painted, not stamped.
