This striking beauty with its oblong high low shape is crafted from beautifully shaped and lacquered Capiz shell accented with a natural white mother of pearl shell veneer trim all around, beautiful, no? The perfect complement to any design style with its easy elegant modern sensibility and amazing visual and textural profile.

Capiz shell comes from the Windowpane oyster (also known as placunidae), a marine bivalve mollusk which is related to oysters and scallops. Marine mollusks are farm raised in the Philippines both for food and for its decorative shell. For the manufacture of decorative items such as chandeliers, lampshades and decorative accents, the shell is known as the Capiz shell.

This beauty has an oblong high low shape which measures as follows:

In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. This beauty was handcrafted by an artisan in the Philippines sometime in the 1970s. Colors are earth tone hues of naturally aged and lacquered natural Capiz shells and off-white mother of pearl shell veneer. With its fabulous sleek and organic look-and-feel, this handcrafted centerpiece bowl will command attention and turn heads wherever placed!
