This Really is a Great Looking and Very Unusual Color Antique American Stoneware Spirits Jug. Circa Approx 1900. It is Rendered in a Classic American Jug Shape - Form. It has Blue Sponge Decorated Features that Interestingly Muted by the Unusual Color High Gloss Over Glaze. It has No Maker or Other Markings. Utilitarian Jugs such as these were used to store a variety liquids such as Ciders - Vinegar - Liquors - Spirits Etc. It is in Excellent All Original Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has a Few Age and Use Related Small Chips on the Perimeter of the Non Glazed Flat Step - Ring. It has a Few Surface Glaze Color Variation Patches But These Would have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. American Stoneware Items were Fired in Very Large Kilns ( Batches ) with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These Types of Kiln Flaws are Quite Common. It is in Strong - Sound and Perfectly Usable if so Desired.
