A finely decorated Japanese Kutani porcelain vase, dating from the Taishō to early Shōwa period (circa 1910–1930). The flared rim and baluster body are hand-painted in a vibrant Kutani palette of iron red, cobalt, turquoise, green, and gilt. Opposing panels depict a courtier and an elegant woman in kimono set against landscape and garden scenes. Framed by dense floral motifs, a large playful shishi lion dog is between each panel. The underside bears a red-painted Kutani workshop mark, reading “Shintōzan.” Measures 8.5" high x 4.5" diameter at the rim. This is a striking display piece that brings the artistry of early 20th-century Kutani ware to your decor.
