This lovely piece of antique flow blue is in the immensely popular "Amoy" pattern by Davenport. This pattern is highly sought after by collectors and was first produced by the William Davenport and Company in Staffordshire England in the 1840s as the demand for Chinoiserie and asian inspired housewares exploded. This plate has an early impressed anchor mark in addition to 'Amoy Davenport' in blue. The date on the impressed anchor mark is '77'. This rare and special piece would make a stunning piece of home decor or as an addition to a larger collection of flow blue plates.
Measurements: 9" Diameter.
Condition: Good condition with some blemishes commensurate with the age of this piece. There is one chip on the underside of the plate, it is not visible from above. There are number of small, pinhead sized glaze pops on the front of the plate and a small nick in the glaze on the edge of the plate. There are no cracks present on this piece, crazing is present and a slight amount of discoloration on the back of the plate. The plate shows signs of use on the front and the edges that is to be expected in a 150 year old piece. These blemishes again, are commensurate with the age of this piece and do not seriously detract from this early fine example of flow blue pottery.
