A dramatic late 1970's Chinoiserie wall plaque, finely crafted in black lacquer with gilt decoration and raised relief elements. Spanning five feet in length, the panel depicts an elaborate courtly garden scene: attendants gather beneath pavilions, playing music, serving tea, and holding parasols while a scholar’s rock, a symbol of prestige, anchors the composition. Figures, rooftops, and natural details are highlighted in low relief, adding depth to the gilded design. A scroll within the scene bears the blessing “福如東海” (May your happiness be as boundless as the Eastern Sea), underscoring the auspicious nature of the tableau.
