Art Nouveau brass letter opener with profile of veiled woman by Peter Tereszczuk. Marked with with signature and foundry mark on back.
Born in Wydubow, Ukraine, Tereszczuk (1875-1963) moved to Vienna at a young age and attended the School of Arts and Crafts between 1893 and 1899. Early sculptures by Tereszczuk began in the Jugendstil style and eventually moved into Art Nouveau and later the Art Deco style and were typically smaller scale and desktop items.
