This … Read more This Really is a Very Rare & Unusual Authentic Antique American Boat - Ships Wheel. Circa Mid 19th Century. This Larger Size Wheel Measures Approx 19 1/2 inches Long x 219 1/2 inches Tall. It is Completely and Beautifully Hand Made - High Quality. The Spokes are Lathe Turned Solid Bronze. The Round Center Mounting Part is Made Out of Cast Iron. The Lathe Turned Handles ate Made Out of Some Sort of Hardwood. It is Quite Heavy Weighing Approx 5 3/4 Pounds. It has No Maker or Other Markings that I Can Find. It is in Very Good All Original As it Has Survived Over the Years Condition. The Wood Handles are Somewhat Aged & Weathered With a Few Imperfections. The Bronze Spokes Have Developed a Wonderful Authentic Dark Brown Patina. It Would Polish Up Beautifully if Desired but It Actually Displays Very Well Just Like it is. I Recently Purchased this Wheel in The Up State New York Region - Possibly Could Have Been Salvaged form a Erie Canal Boat. Ships Wheels such as these Make Unique & Interesting Wall Decor Items.
