A striking collectors piece from the Mod 20th Century. This grandfather clock is an exquisite example of early American horology. It is attributed to the renowned Boston clockmaker Aaron Willard. Crafted from rich, figured mahogany with deep patina, this clock features a finely arched bonnet with pierced fretwork, turned finials, and reeded columns flanking the hood. The hand-painted iron dial showcases Roman numerals, floral spandrels, and a moon phase calendar in the lunette—hallmarks of the period’s artistry. Original brass hardware and a weight-driven movement with an eight-day time and strike mechanism complete the authentic colonial aesthetic. The numbers on the back read 5050 407.
The size is 84”H X 17.25”W X 11”D.
Our pieces are vintage, antique, or previously owned furniture and decor. As such, they often show signs of age, use, or character—which we believe adds to their unique charm. We make every effort to describe items accurately and provide clear, detailed photos, but we encourage all buyers to review the images carefully and ask questions prior to purchase if you need further clarification.
Beauty and condition can be subjective, and while we strive to highlight both the strengths and any notable flaws, perfection isn’t always guaranteed with older or pre-loved items.
Chairish sells clocks only with display as the intended use. The mechanical elements are not guaranteed to be in working order by Chairish.
