The barley twist design became popular during the English Baroque period, in the 17th century. The twisted form was first used in furniture and architectural details, before being adapted for smaller decorative objects. The openness of the barley twist added elegance and sophistication to not only dining tables, but mantels and candle tables, as well. This “openess” of the twist design allowed for an airy and decorative appearance—making it very adaptable to any style of decor.
These candle sticks have a lovely patina, but I am sure that they would look stunning, if they were cleaned and polished, too!
Candle holders have a 7/8” opening and are 2” deep; each holder weighs 1 1/2 lbs. See less
