With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this wonderful antique office desk. The entire piece is constructed from solid oak lumber with tiger oak selected for the drawer faces. Both drawers are fitted with ornamental cast iron pulls and feature inset locks. The desk offers a generously sized kneehole that allows for a wider range of desk chairs to be accepted in this area. The case features raised panel sides and a raised panel back that is attractive and therefore not necessarily designed to go up against a wall. This desk may have originally belonged to a banker or was otherwise made for an office with desks placed in the center of the room. The finely shaped gallery and curved patterns that repeat vertically along both ends are indicative of a design that sought to impress anyone at first glimpse. The entire desk is quite sturdy in has remained in excellent condition. The oak case is finished in a beautiful golden oak color which has a warm glow particularly when exposed to daylight.
This antique oak office desk measures 38 1/4" wide x 23 3/4" deep x 31" tall at the writing surface and 35" tall at the gallery.
