The two objects, identical in shape and size but opposite in color, are designed as complementary: one with a white background and dark basin, the other with a dark background and light basin. A duality that suggests the idea of opposing but balanced forces: light and shadow, full and empty, positive and negative. The surface of the plates features a refined interplay of engraved textures and satin glazes, in which light is captured and diffused with great finesse. The form is strict and minimalist, but every detail speaks of a deep artistic sensibility. This pair is a perfect example of the production of Studio del Campo, a Turin workshop founded by a collective that was an absolute protagonist of the postwar Italian art-craft scene. Their works combined the abstract elegance of modernist design with sophisticated mastery of enamel work. Studio del Campo was among the most important Italian ateliers specializing in artistic enamel on copper. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
