The Modernist poster print is published by The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. printed in 1986 in Italy in an unnumbered limited edition by Arti Graphiche Ricordi, S.P.A. Milano. It features an artwork image originally created by Miro in 1953 titled " painting ", photograph by : Carmelo Guadagino and David Heald - copyright A.D.A.G.P., 1986 Grafica G. & R. Associati.

Joan Miro ( 1893 - 1983 ) the Spanish born painter, sculptor, and ceramicist of Jewish descent is considered to be on of the most important Abstract artists of all time. Earning international acclaim, his work has been interpreted as Surrealism, and breaking through boundaries of traditional concepts of composition of an aesthetic image. He had significant influence on the late Twentieth Century Abstract Expressionist artists. The artworks if Miro can be found in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

By the late 1940's Miro was creating canvases on a much larger scale and with broader markings. The original work " Painting " of 1953 is more than 6 feet high by 12 feet wide, and is characterized by loose gestural brushstrokes and stained pigments. The calligraphic drawing style and open field here metamorphosed into bold energetic lines in a vast, cosmic atmosphere. This artwork is a now famous masterpiece in the collection of The Guggenheim Museum in New York. The spontaneity of the symbolism and expressiveness of energy imprints itself onto the surface like writing on ancient stone plates.

The rare out of print framed Modernist poster measures 34 1/2" W X 24 1/2" H X 1" D.

It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern variegated dark charcoal gray black woodgrain style matte eggshell finish metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age and very light signs of handling.
