Shaped with a gently lobed rim and delicately scalloped edges, the surface is organized into four alternating cartouches of figural and floral decoration, all surrounding a central medallion. The figural scenes depict elaborately dressed courtiers and attendants engaged in formalized social exchanges, rendered with vibrant enamels and detailed brushwork within architectural interiors that reflect the decorative conventions of Chinese narrative painting. These are interspersed with panels of lush botanical abundance—pairings of blooming peonies, songbirds, and butterflies—symbolic of harmony and seasonal renewal.

The central medallion contains a nestling pair of birds amid flowering branches, encircled by a gilt border that unites the composition. The surrounding ground is densely filled with curling foliate scrollwork in famille rose enamels, punctuated by gilt highlights and auspicious motifs such as bats and fruits, referencing good fortune and longevity.
