This Really is a Great Looking Authentic Antique American - Vermont Country Primitive Stoneware Spirits Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. It is Rendered in a Classic Low & Wide Form - Shape. It has a Variable Sandy - Greige Color Salt Glaze Exterior. The Front has a Beautiful Blue Color Hand Decorated Stylized Flower Design along with Lettering Highlights. It is Embossed with the Well Documented Makers Name of E & L P NORTON BENNINGTON VT. It is Not Marked as Such but it is Rendered in the Approx 1 Gallon Storage Capacity. Back in the Day These Types of Utilitarian Stoneware Items were a Daily Necessity in American Homes, Businesses & Farms. in These types of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. It is in Very Good Strong - Sound and All Original Condition - Displays Beautifully. It is Strong and Sound - Still Perfectly Usable if So Desired. No Cracks - No Repairs. Minor Imperfection Noted a Very Small Chip at the Base Lower Outer Perimeter. It has Some Surface Glaze Coloration Spots at the Left Mid Section Handle Area, a Couple Glaze Spot Imperfections at the Base - Perimeter Some Very Faint Glaze Only Hairlines at the Spout Area All of Which Would have Occurred in The Making - Kiln Firing Process. These Types of Imperfections are Actually Quite Common Since These Pieces were Produced and Fired in Very Large Kilns in Batches with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time.
