This evocative piece features a wave or mountain-form silhouette with five peaks, glazed in a blue tone with subtle mottling. The underside shows natural wear consistent with age and use, and a small firing hole typical of antique kiln techniques.
Brush rests like this were essential tools in a scholar’s studio, designed to hold calligraphy or painting brushes in between uses. The shape evokes the Daoist reverence for nature and mountain landscapes. A rare and poetic piece for collectors of scholar’s objects or Chinese ceramics.
