I'm not sure how old these are, but I purchased them at an estate sale in the 1970's and think they may be 1940s. The price reflects 3 Minor chips, as seen in the photos. One on the cheek of the baby dog and one on a back leg and tail of the one with the ball. The hand painting is well done with gold gilt.

According to ancient Chinese tradition you should always have a pair for good Feng shui and they should contain both a baby dog and a ball. The male's paw is over the ball to represent the world and the female paw is over the baby to represent nurturing. They are actually considered lions by the Chinese and westerners adopted them as dogs.

I'm an interior decorator who's downsizing my own and inherited items. All have been well cared for and from a non-smoking home.
