We love the dress of the youngster that is reminiscent of a leprechaun in his floral pants and green pointed cap that slouches upon his head! The egg sits on his back held by two twisted magenta tree branches like a large basket, and is further decorated with grapes and grape leaves. Entirely hand painted. Made in Japan by Lenwile Ardalt, circa 1910 - 1930 pre-World War II.

This would be lovely filled with a bouquet of small Spring flowers, or with one single blossom of a rose, gardenia or peony. Measures 4" tall x 5.5" long x 3.75" across the boy's feet. Excellent condition with some grape leaf tips found to be missing only after close inspection, not readily noticed nor detracting. Please review photos. See less
