Meissen is the oldest porcelain manufacturer in Europe, founded in 1710 in Meissen, Germany.
The crossed swords are a reference to the electoral swords of Saxony, symbolizing the patronage of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, who commissioned the development of hard-paste porcelain in Europe.
