It is made of porcelain and decorated with a underglaze blue peony flower with leaves and fluttering butterflies. The bulbous body has a long bottle neck and supported by a raised round foot. The cobalt blue really stands out. Sake bottles were made by Japanese and Korean potters. size and shape and even the decorative design are the same. But this is a Korean bottle. Korean potters were not as meticulous as their Japanese counterparts. Notice how the foot is finished. It was left rough and uneven. But the untidiness of Korean ceramics is looked upon as rustic and highly desired. The natural flaws are considered as "shibui", an accidental element that is highly desired by collectors. See less
