The beauty and popularity of Murano glass was the impetus of glassmakers world wide to imitate the vibrant colors and techniques of the glassmakers on Murano Island outside of Venice, Italy. This attractive vase of vibrant chartreuse yellow infused with mottled/confetti of amber, and rust orange with free form ruffled rims are evocative of Murano's handkerchief form.
The vase is a handblown art glass vase, most likely from the post modern period - 1970's to 2000. The glass is a bright chartreuse yellow with amber and rust-orange inclusions, done in a controlled splatter or confetti style. Some of the splatters even look organic. THe colors are cased in clear glass, giving depth and movement. The trumpet shape form has a free-form, ruffled rim with soft folds and peaks, - very typical of studio art glass, rather than factory molded work. The polished pontil on the base supports the handblown technique.
