China Gardens ice caddy, No. 130, made in England. A wonderful example of mid-century Chinoiserie design, featuring a dramatic black lacquer-style finish with hand-decorated Asian-inspired scenery, pagodas, figures, birds, foliage and fan motifs in gold and muted colors.

The piece has its original swing handle, fitted lid and finial, giving it a wonderful decorative presence. The interior is designed as an insulated/liner-style ice caddy.

This is much more than a functional ice bucket — it would make a gorgeous barware accent, Chinoiserie display piece, or statement piece for a vintage, Hollywood Regency, or eclectic interior.

The original Baret & Co. markings are present on the underside, including “China Gardens,” “Ice Caddy,” “No. 130,” and “Made in England.”

It has the expected signs of age and use, including some surface wear, scratches and patina consistent with its vintage age. Please see all photos carefully for condition. I have intentionally left the vintage finish and patina as found.
