Of baluster form with gilt scroll … Read more French hand-painted porcelain potpourri vase, Delinieres & Co. (D & Co.), Limoges, ca. 1890. Of baluster form with gilt scroll handles and a matte green body painted with a fine scale ground pattern, framing floral reserves of wild roses rendered in naturalistic detail. The pierced domed cover surmounts an interior fitted tray. Raised gilt beading accents the decoration, applied through a meticulous multi-step process using real gold suspension and low-temperature firing—a technique reserved for luxury wares. Bearing the underglaze green “D & Co.” mark (without “France”), the piece dates to 1879–1893, prior to U.S. import labeling laws. Large painted initials (S.T. or L.T.) indicate studio execution by a professional decorator. Height: 9 in. (22.8 cm); Width (handle to handle): 6¼ in. (15.9 cm). See less
