This is a diminutive slant front desk, having a bamboo frame and hand painted details.
The painted pattern is done in black with red and green floral and leaf designs, and has a stylized floral border on the top, sides, fall board and drawers.
The two drawers have Federal style brass pulls.
The fall board opens on hinges and has several small compartments for letters, writing materials etc.
The bamboo legs and surrounds have a tortoise shell finish.
There is a white chalk signature on the back by the artist.
The desk measures 15.5 inches deep, 22 inches wide and 39 inches high. When the writing surface is extended, the piece measures 26.5 inches deep.
