This classic beauty’s faux bamboo design was, and continues to be, a ubiquitous motif found in Hollywood Regency interiors. It adds visual interest and imparts an exotic Chinoiserie vibe to furniture and accessories This style of tray is more often found (but not always) with a handle on each side to be used as a serving tray or as a decorative accent atop a vanity, dresser or centerpiece on an entryway table, sizable ottoman or coffee table. The look-and-feel is in the manner of a Mottahedeh tray of the period which was made in a variety of shapes and sizes. Nicely-sized and weighted, this octagonal beauty, with its faux bamboo gallery and handles, is the perfect glam accessory for a Hollywood Regency-inspired space. It weighs 6 lbs. 5 oz. and measures as follows:

Width: 28” wide from handle-to-handle; 23” wide excluding handles
Depth: 15½” deep from base platform-to-base platform; 14¾” deep from rail-to-rail
Height: 3”
Interior: 22” x 14” x 2¼” W/D/H

In excellent condition with age-appropriate wear that includes indiscernible scratches on the surface, a spot of oxidation in a lower corner (see photo 7) with several other indiscernible spots, as to be expected from its age and use, which in no way affects its beauty or utility. Etched makers mark on the underside with a pattern number and country of origin (India). The topside and gallery rail has been lightly polished; underside remains unpolished.

Hollywood Regency style is always “in” and this beauty will complement most any design style in today’s modern home!
