An art glass vase by American glass artist Donald Carlson. Signed verso, this vessel embodies a pill shape and is a deep blue. The piece is marbled with light blue and amber swirls throughout. The underside of the vase is signed "Carlson 73."
During the 1960s, Carlson took an art class while studying for his MBA and MS and discovered glassmaking. Wanting to delve deeper into this particular form of art-making, Carlson built a studio in his backyard and taught himself to blow glass. Currently, Carlson's work focuses on creating bright and whimsical glass fruit sculptures and vases.
