Pair of Louis XV Armchairs, France, ca. 1870
This splendid pair of Louis XV armchairs, made in France around 1870, represents a fine example of period craftsmanship. The seats feature a carved and gilded wooden structure, with richly sculpted floral details that reflect the typical aesthetic of French Rococo.
The recently restored padding is covered in an elegant ivory-colored damask fabric, with tone-on-tone patterns that enhance the refinement of the line and integrate harmoniously with the gilding of the structure.
