The tops and aprons … Read more This is an outstanding mismatched pair of fauteuil-style armchairs with high backs and finely hand-carved frames. The tops and aprons are carved with flowers, shells, and foliage with scrollwork throughout; the wood's patina is beautiful. The leather has a natural texture, and all the upholstery is piped. They have curved arm supports with central padding, cabriolet legs with carved knees, and brass and wood caster wheels on the front of both chairs.

As evidenced on the bottom of one frame, they may have originally had a blanc de chine or gilded finish.
