Set of Four Antique W.T. Copeland & Sons “Denmark” Pattern Transferware Plates – Moorish Revival, Dated 1881
A rare and finely preserved set of four transferware dinner plates by W.T. Copeland & Sons, successors to the original Spode pottery. Made in Stoke-upon-Trent, England, and dated 1881 based on impressed markings.
The scarce “Denmark” pattern is seldom found in matched sets, especially in this Moorish Revival palette with crisp, polychrome detail. A striking example of Aesthetic Movement ceramics — both collectible and decorator-worthy.
Each plate features an intricate central medallion in red, blue, gold and black on an ivory ground. The transfer-printed design is hand-finished, with slight irregularities in placement that reflect 19th-century craftsmanship.
Dinner plate size = 10.25" diameter x 1" deep
Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Light rubbing to the pattern, minor edge wear, and utensil marks may be present. One plate has a small edge chip, shown in photos.
