This … Read more Offering a large Mid to Early 20th Century hand painted Chinese porcelain ginger jar with lid, signed on bottom. This massive four-sided porcelain vessel is richly decorated with vibrant patterns, featuring an array of butterflies and melons with an intricate network of light green scrolling vines and tendrils. The off-white colored lid features melons and leaves.

The top border is a traditional Chinese Ruji Head border, while the bottom border is a traditional Chinese Lappett border. Both of these borders have beautiful turquoise, indigo blue and cranberry red colors. The butterflies are quite unusual facing up-side down, right side-up and one flying butterfly.

The signature on the bottom of the vessel identifies it from the Qing Dynasty, Tongzhi era (1861-1875), although the Chinese reproduced these symbols at later dates, this ginger jar is Mid to Early 20th Century.

EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. No cracks, no chips, no damage of any kind.
