With its stylish hump chest profile, this nicely weighted Talavera box is perfectly suited to serve as a vide poche on an entryway table or as an eye-catching colorful decorative accent on a cabinet or display shelf. Mexican Talavera is handcrafted in the town of San Pablo del Monte (in Tlaxcala) and the cities of Puebla, Atlixco, Cholula and Tecali (all these four latter in the state of Puebla) for the type of the natural clay found there. Keep in mind, Talavera is ceramic earthenware and may chip or break if not handled carefully. This beauty measures 6½” x 5½” x 7” W/D/H (height without the lid 3¾”); interior 5¼” x 3¾” x 2¼” W/D/H; weight 3 lbs. 3 oz. This foliaceous beauty’s colors are dusty hues of green, yellow, blue and chestnut on an off-white background; polished silver pewter base and knob. In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. Though the lid seats well on top of the base, because of its handcrafted nature, there is a slight wiggle in one corner which does not affect its utility or beauty. Handcrafted by an unknown artisan from Mexico. With its colorfully charming rustic style, it is certain to complement most any design or color scheme in your home!
