At just over 11 ½ inches in diameter and 2 ¼ high, this signed (SABINO FRANCE) bowl offers significant decorative presence (as you might expect from Sabino, one of the several finest French glassmakers). Use a Japanese kenzan (rubber-mounted flower frog) in the center, then you’ll have the best of both worlds – your beautiful arrangement in the center, surrounded by swooping and darting swallows!

There are some scratches in the bowl’s interior bottom. Two or three that are “readily visible,” but in my opinion not particularly deep; there are areas where there are superficial scratches as well. There are no chips along the rim.

Three of the six swallows’ heads serve as feet for the bowl, a French artistic flourish you’ll find on other bowls from notable designers, like those of Pierre d’Avesn.

This bowl’s opalescence is light, just enough to allow us to say, “Look! Opalescent glass!”
