Antique 19th Century Majolica Gray Elephant Humidor With a Lovely Pink Waistcoat Coat Smoking a Pipe c1880s. Smokers turned from using snuff to smoking pipes at the end of the 19th century. The Humidor opens at the Elephant's shoulders. Humorous figural tobacco jars became popular. This Stunning Elephant with its tusks and trunk shows an humorous expression. Most were produced in small potteries in the Bohemia area of Austria and Germany. This humidor's maker's mark 6021 48 is stamped on underside.
