A fabulous and coveted full set of eight mid-century wrought iron dining chairs designed by Maurizio Tempestini for John B. Salterini, circa 1950s. This sculptural ensemble includes six side chairs and two armchairs, all featuring the iconic “ribbon” loop backrest design, a hallmark of Tempestini’s sinuous, architectural approach to outdoor furniture.
What sets this collection apart is a vintage pale butter yellow powder-coated finish, a soft and unusual color that feels at once fresh and nostalgic. Each chair retains its original hand-woven paper cord seat, all in excellent structural condition with just two seats showing age-appropriate darkening from wear.
Unmarked yet retaining the "ghost" imprint of oval, pressed metal "Salterini Neva Rust" tags at the seat's rear stretcher. While the tags disappeared during the refinishing process some time ago, the chairs bear not only the imprint of their tags, but all of the hallmarks of authentic Salterini construction including original molded paper cord seats, wrought iron construction, and precise graduation of the ribbon detail measurements.
These chairs are as graceful indoors as they are on a veranda or garden terrace, and they strike the perfect balance between airy elegance and fine craftsmanship. Whether you're furnishing a sunroom, dining area, or covered outdoor space, this set offers the timeless appeal of true mid-century design from one of the most respected names in wrought iron furniture.

Finish shows wear and loss to powder coating as an "honest finish" that has worn beautifully over nearly 75 years. If a perfect, fresh finish is desired, the rush seats unscrew allowing the frames to be easily repainted. Original rush bottom seats are in great structural condition and present very well. There is darkening associated with age and normal wear, but in great condition overall. less
